He Promised Her A Skyline

The night was mesmerizing and he stared at his phone; exactly after 12 hours, an enormous wait would come to an end. The day she spoke about her obsession for sky, all he could think of was the premier spot. A rainy day started with a strong coffee and conversation found its evitable twists and turns. He noticed the girl was quite clumsy in managing her belongings and had a peculiar tendency to lean her neck forward almost all the time; and being a fitness conscious man, he kept raising flags against her bad habit.

After sometime, they finally reached to the predetermined place. A sense of stellar euphoria had encompassed everywhere and they could only sense the sky.  All they could see was the skyline.

He found his broken self to be dwelling on the past where he was altogether a different person. He was not familiar with the surge of reality which drifted apart long ago. A crafty sketch from his canvas emerged and it was the sole portrayal of the woman from his past. His elocution felt short and silence infused the void. His eyes were probing the truth; “part of me still believes in the possibility of something invariably impossible?” he asked himself. The girl here was observant in encapsulating the sky in her imagination and sensed his half-spoken words. It reminded her of the home she had to leave, the hardships she chose for herself and the very fact that her soul still belonged to the home where she dreamt of this skyline. A common conjecture says “home is where the heart is”, however one’s cynical self always struggles to understand the paramount contradictions a heart brings with it.

They synced in an unexplained manner and the bond got created. He again began the conversation:

“So, this friendship started with a promise…”

“A promised skyline!”

“Precisely, it’s about you to practice ‘not to-slouch’ and stand properly!” 🙂

“Perhaps there’s something there that wasn’t there before.” — Villeneuve.

  1. The stories that you derive from everyday events and new people in your life is absolutely amazing. The fact that sometimes a friendship starts over a cup of coffee while looking at the skyline happens with many of us. But phrasing that story by looking at the world through a coloured glass is been crafted here to perfection. And this is the reason why we reach out to your blog waiting eagerly for your next content.
